Mago Merlino

The Jeantot Privilege 12m is a fast comfortable passage maker and very strongly built in France by Jeantot Marine. A bespoke builder they went to great pains in her build so when you step aboard you immediately get a feeling of strength security and great quality in detail. Step below and you are in a snug world of warm wood and comfort.

Lunch?

As you can see, cockpit space isn’t an issue, I can sit eight for dinner at that table!  More importantly for learning, there is plenty of space for crews to get involved without tripping over each other.

You will usually have your own double cabin and shower / heads to your self. 220 AC inverter ( 5000 watt) so yes we do have a Hair drier !

What else. Well, Full central heating and plenty of hot water. Massive tanks. A proper galley! with two fridges. Electronics coming out her ears. Radar, Electronic charts, Autopilot, AIS transponder. DSC,  Navtex etc. Oh yes I was forgetting the most important pieces of technology on board? Electric Kettle and Electric toaster!

the only way to travel

Masthead rigged, which is a bit unusual for a modern catamaran, but as a long distance cruiser, this means she’s easily handled. Designed to be at sea not sitting in a marina, you’ll find that when you need to turn a winch handle you can actually get at it! Big flat decks give a feeling of security when up forward, but there are a couple of tramps for you sun bathers! Back aft there’s a ready to go  RIB hanging in davits. Great little boat for exploring  (electric outboard motor).

Anchors. 1200 watt windlass so you don’t need to wind that one! 20 kilo Vulcan bower on 60 m 10 mm chain. and a Fortress kedge

Can she sail? Well I passage make at 7 to 8 knots. Not a huge speed, power reaching with reaching sheet but oh so easy! Flat out she’s doing about 13. The best bit though is her ease of handling. A joy in a tight spot. If the gaps big enough I can sail her just about anywhere. A real ballet dancer.

Big sail wardrobe includes  Hydranet (sprectra) Main, and Genoa. Three other headsl’s and 2 Spinnakers and yes we’ll use them!

Also Screecher ( read code zero) on bow sprit and anti torsion furler.

For 2015 we fitted new Lombardini engines. Moved away from sail drive and fitted shafts with three blade “featherstream” propellers. loads of power and no drag!
I am always trying to be more environmentally aware so for 2021 we have removed one and fitted an electric drive instead. Massive solar array and battery pack. This electric drive also charges the batteries when we are sailing.
duogen-turbine

Down below we have heating in every cabin. Three loo’s and three showers. Plenty of electricity for kettle, toaster, hair drier and of course all her instruments, which anything I can think of that you should be learning about. We keep it all going with 1kw solar panels, big alternator and wind generator and this a towed turbine.

Good visibility at the helm but protected.

Cheers!
